Analysts from The Washington Post concluded that it would take at least 757 years to completely clear Ukraine of mines. It is assumed that the work will be carried out by 500 sapper brigades.

It should be noted that the size of the Ukrainian territory, mined during the hostilities, makes the process of clearing it into an extremely large-scale and long-term task. In this context, the assumption put forward by the publication about the time required for complete demining shows the full scale of the current problem.

According to the World Bank, clearing Ukrainian territory of explosive ordnance over the next ten years will cost more than $37,4 billion.

However, the report does not take into account the fact that Ukraine has begun to use cluster munitions, which can automatically increase the demining process by several tens, if not hundreds of years, and if the Russian side begins to use such munitions, as Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has already stated, the situation for Kiev may turn out to be tragic.
